One of the most anticipated days of the year on Monticello - The annual Independence Day Celebration and Naturalization Ceremony at Monticello. Dr. Larry J. Sabato, founder and director of the University of Virginia Center for Politics will speak to new citizens from around the world at 9am. Admission to the ceremony is free and open to the public until 12 noon. Free tours of the house are from 11am - 1pm and reservations are taken on a first come first served basis.

After a memorable day at Monticello, return to the Inn to relax on our veranda with a cool drink.  Stroll aound the Downtown Pedestrian Mall and stop in the wide variety of boutiques, bookstores, shops and galleries that the Mall has to offer. Then enjoy dinner downtown before the evening's celebration begins! Fireworks commence one minute after sunset at McIntire Park. Take a nearby shuttle with a blanket and enjoy the show!
